Marisol is based in Attalens, Switzerland. She discovered her passion for pottery while living in New Zealand with her family. What began as a moment of curiosity quickly became a lifelong calling.
“The first time I touched clay, I was immediately fascinated by the material and how you can create a unique form from just clay and water.”
Before working with clay, Marisol shaped ideas. She holds a Master’s in European Law from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Her legal background sharpened her sense of precision, logic, and discipline—qualities that now infuse her creative practice.
Over five years in New Zealand, Marisol dedicated herself to training and refining her craft. She began her journey at Auckland Studio Potters and continued at The Clay Centre, where she deepened her understanding of ceramics. In parallel, she received over a year of specialized instruction in Japanese pottery at Yamada Pottery in Auckland, focusing on traditional techniques and aesthetic principles.
Each piece is wheel-thrown and high-fired, designed for everyday use.
“During throwing, I focus my attention on each piece to achieve harmony between lightness, shape, and touch.”
Her ceramic work combines beauty and function, bringing a sense of calm and simplicity to daily life. Marisol has also collaborated with designers, restaurants, cafés, and boutique hotels, applying her artistic sensibility to functional tableware. These experiences have further enriched her understanding of practical elegance and timeless design.
Now based in Attalens, a quiet village near the Vaud Riviera, Marisol draws on the many influences that have shaped her: her Peruvian heritage, her Swiss roots, her love for Japanese ceramics, and the natural beauty of Aotearoa – New Zealand.
“Thank you for your interest in my work.”
